How We Met
Kristine and Lorenzo met at high school and were both in the high school Marching Band.
Lorenzo was a
senior and
had prior marching band experience while Kristine was a junior and had no experience. It
was a hot
summer day
and the high school marching band had just begun their summer practices.
The students were given paper
slips
that had information on where they were supposed to stand on the football field.
Kristine had no idea
how to
read the slip as did many other new band students who had no prior experience. Students
were instructed
to find
their spots in a timely manner and were told to ask seniors for any help if necessary.
Kristine had no
idea what
she was doing and definitely wanted help from the seniors she knew, but they were all
bombarded with
other
students. She had patiently waited but then realized her instructor had started counting
down and if
they
weren't at their spots in time, they would have to run laps around the field. "Ain't no
way in hell I'm
doing
that," she said.
Kristine looked and looked around and there she found Lorenzo standing with his
ginormous Tuba,
minding his own business without a care in the world. Kristine went up to Lorenzo and
asked "Can you
help me
find my spot?" Lorenzo looked at her slip and replied "That's easy! It's right next to
me." Destined by
fate,
the whole marching routine revolved around those two being together the whole time. If
one was lost,
they knew
they had to just find each other on the field and as long they were together, Kristine
and Lorenzo knew
they
were in the right place.
